ASHRAE Webcast: Assessing Building Energy Performance – From Principles to Practice

Registration is now open at www.ashrae.org/abepwebcast for the April 18, 2013 ASHRAE Webcast, “Assessing Builiding Energy Performance: From Principles to Practice.”

This webcast will feature industry experts who will explain the importance of building energy performance and its far-reaching implications in both new and existing buildings. Viewers will also learn about the various tools and approaches that are available, as well as the many opportunities that assessing building energy performance presents. This FREE webcast program will broadcast live via the internet.

The webcast has been approved for three Learning Units (LUs) by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), as well as three Continuing Education (CE) Hours by GBCI.

Updated details of the Max Tech Seminar are now included on the CRC website and in the table at the right.  Learn about state of the art ground source heat pumps, new European technologies and trends in building and energy simulation.

Trane Laboratory Tour Added Following Max Tech Seminar

Take a tour Trane’s La Crosse research and development laboratory.  Learn about what goes into testing and development of HVAC equipment.  The tour is limited to the first 36 people registered.  Pre-approval is required and onsite registration will not be allowed.

RTU Commissioning Without Refrigerant Gauges
March 21, 2013 @ 6PM

Join us for a hand’s on classroom presentation for rooftop unit commissioning.  The presentation/class will be held at 6:00pm at the Gateway Technical College Kenosha Campus.  3520 – 30th Avenue, Kenosha WI 53144 at the technology building Room T106.  The presentation will cover:

  1. Electric voltages/amps and why they are very important
  2. Belt tensioning of fans and what to look for with pulley alignment
  3. Refrigeration cycle review and steps to verify proper system operation and charge
  4. Review the anatomy of a rooftop unit in Gateway’s state of the art training facility.

The presenter for this meeting with be Gateway Technical College Instructor Tom Niesen. Mr. Niesen has been involved in the HVACR field for over 35 years. Through his career he has been a contractor for residential, commercial and industrial refrigeration service. He has done R&D work for Command Aire (Heat Pump Div. of Trane) and Packless Industries (a manufacturer of tube in tube heat exchangers used throughout the geothermal industry). Tom has been with Gateway as the HVACR Lead instructor and has been involved in establishing Gateway’s HVACR A.A.S. degree program and for the last 4 years as the Alternative Energy Instructor/Div Chair. Currently he splits his time between teaching advanced topics for the HVACR degree program and as the Geothermal Lead at Gateway he is training students in the newly created GeoExchange/HVACR AAS Degree program. Tom is member of ACCA, ASHRAE, IGSHPA and NGWA and is a certified IGSHPA Fusion Technician, Installer and Driller.
