Ronald Jarnagin |

Ronald “Ron” Jarnagin is staff scientist, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, Wash. As the Society’s treasurer, Jarnagin serves on the Board of Directors and ASHRAE’s Executive Committee, chairs the Finance Committee and is vice chair of Members Council. “The current world economic conditions will challenge ASHRAE’s ability to continue to provide new programs while maintaining the health of the Society,” he said. “This situation offers the opportunity to demonstrate the tremendous ASHRAE leadership in the areas of sustainability and energy efficiency within the buildings community.” He serves as chair of the ASHRAE Building Energy Labeling Implementation Ad Hoc Committee and Energy Position Document Committee. He is chair of a committee that wrote ASHRAE’s first advanced energy design guide – ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guide: Small Offices, which exceeds the energy efficiency requirements in Standard 90.1 by 30 percent. He formerly served on the Board as vice president and director-at-large and as chair of SPC 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. Jarnagin is a recipient of ASHRAE’s Distinguished Service Award. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1978 and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida in 1980, and a master’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in 1971. ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is an international organization of some 50,000 persons. Its sole objective is to advance through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world. |
