Design Engineer Needed

Southport Heating, Plumbing & Geothermal is seeking a motivated Design Engineer to design all aspects of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. This position will work within its in-house engineering consulting firm, Southport Engineered Systems. Great, growing company with easy Downtown Milwaukee access.

  • 4 years of experience as a design engineer or drafter preferred.
  • Experienced in Computer 3D Drafting programs – AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, or AutoCAD REVIT required.
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC systems types, performance characteristics and applications of different system types.
  • Familiar with plumbing codes for sizing and routing plumbing piping.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly desired.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent. Minimum 4 years as a design engineer, drafter or related experience.

2015 Golf Outing

This year, on July 27th, is the 14th annual Mike Stram Open. We will again have our outing at the private, members only Chenequa Country Club. Golfers can get there anytime after 9:00 am to practice on the driving range or putting greens. A sit-down lunch will be served for everyone at 10am, with an afternoon session of Golf starting at 11:30 AM sharp (Scramble).

Revenue from this day of golf, cards, and camaraderie will be donated to the Gustus L. Larson Scholarship Fund. We thank you for your donation and your continued support in making this a very successful outing each year.

Mechanical Designer Needed

Qualified candidates will be highly motivated with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. An Associate’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field is recommended. Thorough knowledge of and practical experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Prior experience with the design and installation of industrial air pollution control and other ventilation systems preferred. Candidates should have strong problem solving, computer and communication skills. Experience with Revit and Microstation is a plus. Travel to field assignments up to 10% of the time is a possibility.

Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical or equivalent. 5 years’ experience drafting/designing HVAC, Plumbing, or Air Pollution systems

Performance Expectation:  Candidates must be able to design and draft mechanical systems.

Salary is negotiable, but starts at $25/hour and depends on experience.

The event will be held on Thursday, March 26th at the Harley-Davidson Museum M Bldg (400 West Canal Street, Milwaukee, WI 53201). There is an open house from 2PM to 6PM. The presentation is at 3, followed by drinks and appetizers.

ASHRAE Technology Awards 2015

ASHRAE Technology Awards – Wisconsin Projects

Each year ASHRAE awards its members that develop innovative building designs applied to occupant comfort, indoor air quality and energy conservation.  The designs incorporate ASHRAE standards for energy management and indoor air quality.  We are currently looking for candidates from the Wisconsin Chapter that incorporate those unique and innovative design ideas into their projects.  Categories include residential, public assembly (new, existing, Retrocommissioning), commercial buildings (new, existing, Retrocommissioning),  institutional buildings (new, existing, Retrocommissioning, includes educational facilities and other institutional), health care facilities (new, existing, Retrocommissioning) and industrial facilities or processes (new and existing).
