The WI ASHRAE Chapter would like to thank you for your generosity towards the 2015 Mike Stram Open!  With 123 Golfers, this year was a tremendous success, and we can’t thank you enough.

Job Opening: Auer Steel

Scope of Position: This position provides engineering and design for residential light commercial HVAC systems. This position reports to the Engineering Supervisor.

Basic Function: The successful candidate for this position will be performing a variety of HVAC design related activities. This may include: HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, system design, preparation of drawings and calculations for submittal to state plan review agencies, review of systems, design and selections with customers and clients, or with other Auer Steel personnel.

Essential Functions:

  1. Prepare accurate HVAC system load calculations using Elite and/or Carrier E20-II.
  2. Preparation of plans and calculations that are to be submitted to the State of Wisconsin for HVAC plan review and approval.
  3. Interact with potential and current customers, Auer Steel employees, state of WI, and sales personnel to address design concerns.
  4. Promotes and maintains a flexible cooperative, positive, team oriented attitude with and between departments and end users.
  5. Ensures timely, accurate, proper records, files, data bases, ect. Are developed and maintained for assigned areas of responsibility.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements/Skills:

  1. Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  2. Must possess excellent mechanical aptitude and mathematical abilities.
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  4. Excellent communication, organization, customer relations, problem solving and other follow through skills.

Equipment/Tools Operated:

Proficient skill in operation of standard office equipment such as fax, multi-phone line equipment, PC and their related equipment, copy machine, calculator, printers, mail related equipment. Able to use basic PC related tools.

Design Engineer Needed

Southport Heating, Plumbing & Geothermal is seeking a motivated Design Engineer to design all aspects of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. This position will work within its in-house engineering consulting firm, Southport Engineered Systems. Great, growing company with easy Downtown Milwaukee access.

  • 4 years of experience as a design engineer or drafter preferred.
  • Experienced in Computer 3D Drafting programs – AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, or AutoCAD REVIT required.
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC systems types, performance characteristics and applications of different system types.
  • Familiar with plumbing codes for sizing and routing plumbing piping.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly desired.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent. Minimum 4 years as a design engineer, drafter or related experience.

2015 Golf Outing

This year, on July 27th, is the 14th annual Mike Stram Open. We will again have our outing at the private, members only Chenequa Country Club. Golfers can get there anytime after 9:00 am to practice on the driving range or putting greens. A sit-down lunch will be served for everyone at 10am, with an afternoon session of Golf starting at 11:30 AM sharp (Scramble).

Revenue from this day of golf, cards, and camaraderie will be donated to the Gustus L. Larson Scholarship Fund. We thank you for your donation and your continued support in making this a very successful outing each year.

Following the event there will be a cash bar, dinner, and the awarding of door prizes. Only a paid reservation will assure you a spot on the golf course or at the sportsman’s club.

Job Posting: Aerotek

Mechanical Designer Needed

Qualified candidates will be highly motivated with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. An Associate’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field is recommended. Thorough knowledge of and practical experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Prior experience with the design and installation of industrial air pollution control and other ventilation systems preferred. Candidates should have strong problem solving, computer and communication skills. Experience with Revit and Microstation is a plus. Travel to field assignments up to 10% of the time is a possibility.

Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical or equivalent. 5 years’ experience drafting/designing HVAC, Plumbing, or Air Pollution systems

Performance Expectation:  Candidates must be able to design and draft mechanical systems.

Salary is negotiable, but starts at $25/hour and depends on experience.
