January 2017 Program

January – Focus on Energy Presentation

The Wisconsin Chapter of ASHRAE is proud to announce that on Thursday, January 19th, Travis Jones & Leah Maggio will be presenting on Focus On Energy (FOE).

Focus on Energy is a statewide energy efficiency and renewable resource program that helps empower the people and businesses of Wisconsin to make smart energy decisions with enduring economic benefits. FOE helps WI residents and businesses implement energy efficiency and renewable energies on projects by providing information, resources, and financial incentives.

Travis Jones is a Trade Ally Manager for FOE and has experience with many of the FOE programs and projects. Leah Maggio is an Energy Advisor and provides technical support for FOE projects.   Their combined experience will make for a great presentation for those who are interested in learning more about Focus on Energy, as well as for those who have specific questions about the FOE programs.

The program will be held at Ring & DuChateau.

For those attending:

  • Parking is available in curb-side parking spots on the north side of Crest Hill Drive.
  • Street parking is available on the south side of the road on Crest Hill Drive. Please avoid parking on the north side of the street so that emergency vehicle access is maintained.
  • Parking in the lots directly north and east of the Ring & DuChateau office is reserved for employee’s.
  • Carpooling to the meeting is appreciated.

2017 ASHRAE Technology Awards

ASHRAE Technology Awards – Wisconsin Projects

Each year ASHRAE awards its members that develop innovative building designs applied to occupant comfort, indoor air quality and energy conservation. The designs incorporate ASHRAE standards for energy management and indoor air quality. We are currently looking for candidates from the Wisconsin Chapter that incorporate those unique and innovative design ideas into their projects. Categories include residential (new and existing), public assembly (new and existing), commercial buildings (new and existing), institutional buildings (new and existing, includes educational facilities and other institutional), health care facilities (new and existing) and industrial facilities or processes (new and existing).

Please follow this link: Technology Awards Program, for more information and forms for the awards program. Winners for each category will be determined by the Wisconsin Chapter Board of Governors. The winner in each category will be eligible to be submitted to the regional and national level to showcase projects designed by Wisconsin Chapter members. Performance must be proven through one year of verified operating data.

November 2016 Program

The Wisconsin Chapter of ASHRAE is proud to announce that on Thursday, November 17th, Sheila Hayter will be presenting on: Integrating Renewable Energy Systems into Buildings. The presentation will introduce opportunities, means, and methods for applying renewable energy technologies into buildings. In addition, Sheila will cover techniques that have been successful for incorporating renewable energy into both building designs and facility operations across the country.

Sheila Hayter P.E., is the Project Assessment and Development Section Manager within the Integrated Applications Center (IAC) of the U.S. DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located in Golden, Colorado. She has also served many leadership positions within ASHRAE, from serving on the ASHRAE Board of Directors, to serving as chair to several ASHRAE committees. At the DOE, Sheila leads a team of technical and policy experts that support all levels of government efforts to promote energy efficiency. Her experience within ASHRAE & position within the DOE make her a valuable resource for anyone interested in implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency into their buildings.

The program will be held at the MSOE Todd Wehr Conference Center located in downtown Milwaukee at 1047 N Broadway.

October 2016 Program

The Wisconsin Chapter of ASHRAE is proud to announce that on Thursday, October 20th, Kishor Khankari, President of AnSight LLC, will be presenting on: Airflow Management for Healthcare Facilities. The presentation will cover the importance of HVAC configuration on airflow distribution of airborne contaminants in patient rooms and operating rooms. The presentation will also cover the applications of active chilled beams, radiant systems, and displacement ventilation in patient rooms.

Dr. Kishor Khankari, Ph.D. provides engineering analysis of HVAC solutions with physics based simulation software thru his company AnSight LLC. His software allows HVAC designers to optimize their system designs for efficiency and comfort in countless application types. Dr. Kishor is also a past Chair of ASHRAE Technical Committee TC9.11 Clean Spaces, and has great insight into solutions for achieving exceptional IAQ in several types of applications.
